Billet/Job Description:

> Report directly to the Maine Maritime Academy NROTC Professor of Naval Science (PNS). > As an Assistant Professor of Naval Science, member will instruct the Naval Science for the Strategic Sealift Officer course. > Serve as resident SSO subject matter expert to provide mentorship and career guidance to Strategic Sealift Midshipman Program (SSMP) students. > Act as an on campus advocate for the SSO community and SSMP.  Member will be expected to support at various recruiting events on campus (open houses, accepted student's day, etc.) > Work closely with staff from MARAD and Maine Maritime Academy, oversee the management of the Student Incentive Payment (SIP) program within the NROTC unit.  > Serve as a liaison between MMA NROTC PNS, SSO Program Office, and Strategic Sealift Midshipmen Program stakeholders.  > Assist Maine Maritime PNS with midshipmen program management, administrative tasks, outreach, supply inventory, enrollment prep, commissioning prep, and Professional Review Board processing.  > Act as a SSO career mentor for midshipmen through individual counseling, coordinating guest speakers and professional training during Leadership Laboratory periods.


> Member must have earned SSOWI. > Recent PCI Instructor or Squad Leader Experience strongly desired. > Member must have a good working knowledge of the SSO Program and Military Sealift Command. > The selected officer will be expected to have demonstrated consistent excellent performance in the SSO Community. > This duty is for those members who wish to contribute more to the program on long term ADT orders. > Recent sailing experience, advanced licenses and leadership experience as an instructor/professor are a plus.
