POSITION DESCRIPTION:  SDO is the direct representative of CTF 63/MSCEURAF, reporting directly to the Commodore. The SDO is responsible for ship support of theater logistics operations and, more generally, all MSC vessels in theater not specifically assigned to another command by higher authority. They are to advise on events that may affect normal operations, command security, and personnel safety. They are to provide necessary updates to the Commodore on the status of operations and the completion of events occurring after normal working hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:  Applicants should be a SSOWI qualified, currently sailing merchant mariner holding at least a USCG 2nd Mate/Assistant Engineer's license or working in a shore-side operations role; they should possess knowledge on MSC practices and command structure. MSC experience highly preferred, but not required.

ADDITIONAL REMARKS:  ADT will be performed at MSCEURAF HQ in Naples, Italy. Duty will include working on at least (1) one weekend. This will be a continuously filled position through the FY with a two-week overlap between SSO’s. You will be expected to provide turnover to your replacement.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant should become familiar with MSC SOM and command structure.
